Family :: The Downing Family

We had a fun morning out recently in Guapulo with the lovely Downing family.  Taking advantage of family in town, the Downing’s wanted to get some photos of the family all together.  It had been over 10 years since they had any photos all together so it was an opportunity not to be missed having them all in one spot.  Getting everyone looking in the same direction, with eyes open, and lovely smiles was a challenge at times but they were super patient.  Baby, toddlers, kids, parents and grandparents alike all did great!  Thanks Angelita and family for being such good sports on the day and for this wonderful opportunity!

Family :: The Hayward Family

Twins – double the trouble but double the smiles!  I can’t deny that I think we all approached our latest session with a little bit of trepidation after one of our young subjects expressed complete disinterest in photos weeks before.  Nevertheless, they arrived and the Hayward family came through in spades!  We had such fun in the streets of Guapulo, seeking out unique colors and different ways to engage the kids and keep them happy.  Thank you Haywards!

Event :: Tala Beads Photo Shoot

I had so much fun doing a photo shoot for my friend Jura who runs a business making gorgeous handmade jewellery out of sustainable palm seed beads from Ecuador.  Working with the locally sourced palm seeds, she integrates silver beads from Sudan and recycled aluminium beads from Ecuador and makes the most stunning necklaces.

Tala, which means ‘palm tree’ in Arabic, is fitting as all of the seeds Jura sources come from different types of palm trees.  It just so happens that she also has a gorgeous dog named Tala, who she adopted when they lived in Sudan before this business came to be.  Tala came to assist us at the photo shoot and was the perfect model.

Jura’s stunning friend, Sara Granjam, really made the shoot as she was the perfect person to model these amazing necklaces.  She was a complete natural and made the whole photo shoot super fun and easy.  Thanks Jura and Sara for a great morning out together!

Check out Tala Beads at www.talabeads.com, or follow Tala Beads Facebook Page for regular updates and new necklaces.

Little Ones :: Piper

I try to get out to our local park as much as possible with our black lab Mosa and 18 month old daughter Piper.  We spend mornings traipsing through the myriad of fields and eucalyptus woods, listening to the birds and the whoosh of the trees in the wind. It’s always beautiful, even in the rain, but recently we discovered a spectacular little corner of thriving beautiful flowers.  The sun came out for just a few minutes, allowing me to capture some lovely backlit shots of our little Piper, despite her not being in the best of moods.  I would love to get back there before the flowers disappear to get a few more shots, both of Piper and anyone else who can muster the 7am walk up the hill to the field!  For now, the images are sweet in my memory so I just had to share.

She’s absolutely precious, and your shots are beautiful. Hugs!

Family :: The Brooke Family

We had so much fun taking a few photos for our good friends who recently visited us here in Quito.  The kids were all going stir crazy so we decided to take a little walk up to the local park which was the perfect setting for some casual family portraits.  We met the older boy when he was just a baby, so we had so much fun seeing them again now and meeting his little brother. You can just see how much they all adore each other!  Thanks Ruth and Ian for coming all this way with the boys to visit, and for the opportunity to take of few snaps of your beautiful family!
